HR Tax Practice at MVVP boosted by new partner Gunther Valkenborg

MVVP is pleased to announce that Gunther Valkenborg will join our office as Partner “HR Tax, Reward and Compensation & Benefits”.
Gunther has built up extensive expertise in this matter.
He advises Belgian and foreign based companies with regard to social security and taxation of the remuneration of employees and self-employed.

His experience in, among other things, the international mobility of employees and directors (such as secondment and salary split); the special assessment system for foreign executives and specialised employees; stock option plans and other long term incentive plans, whether or not linked to the grant of shares; the start-up and supervision of payroll administration in Belgium and abroad; the preparation and filing of resident and non-resident income tax returns as well as making all kinds of tax simulations (including determining the employer’s cost), are an important asset in the further development of MVVP.

Gunther is Dutch-speaking and fluent in French and English and has excellent contacts with offices abroad.

Before joining MVVP, Gunther worked as a lawyer in the offices of Tiberghien, Claeys & Engels and Loyens & Loeff where he led the Compensation & Benefits department.

Bruno Blanpain, partner employment law department: “As a tax lawyer, Gunther Valkenborg has been working for many years with lawyers specialised in labour and social security law.  He knows the overlaps between both fields very well and is therefore particularly well placed to assist our clients in the field of HR tax. We are therefore particularly pleased with his arrival.”

Gunther Valkenborg: “MVVP has a strong reputation both in Belgium and abroad, which is an important advantage for a lawyer who is active internationally on a daily basis. I am therefore very excited to start this new story and to offer our clients the best possible legal support together with my colleagues.
