On October 9, 2025, during the annual symposium of the DPO News journal (published by Anthémis), Philippe Laurent had the opportunity to present the findings of a study he conducted on transparency obligations towards data subjects under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the new Artificial Intelligence Regulation (RIA or “AI Act”).
The analysis involved reviewing the specific transparency rules in the GDPR concerning automated decisions with legal or similar effects, and then examining the transparency obligations established by the new AI regulation, particularly in cases involving high-risk AI systems and the specific scenarios outlined in Chapter IV of the regulation (appropriately titled “Transparency obligations for providers and deployers of certain AI systems”).
The results of this analysis were published in a special edition of the journal dedicated to the symposium.
The slides summarizing the key elements of the analysis are available via the link below. They include useful infographics that provide an overview of the topic.
