Rutge mainly specializes in:

• Civil law: The extra-contractual liability of public authorities, in particular the functioning of the Belgian State;
• Administrative law: The public openness and proper conduct of the administration with a keen interest in the protection of the interests of public authorities in administrative law disputes, with a particular focus on:
• Civil service matters- and disciplinary law, appointments and terminations of employment, and more broadly the Federal and Flemish Personnel Statutes;

In doing so Rutger has equally expanded his knowledge of constitutional law.

Rutger advises clients, deals with various claims cases and represents federal and regional clients before the civil courts, the Council of State (or other administrative courts), the Constitutional Court, the Belgian Supreme Court, the Court of Justice of the European Union (Luxembourg) and the European Court of Human Rights (Strasbourg).

Rutger has a preference for litigation. The majority of his work consists of the day-to-day monitoring of various proceedings before the Belgian courts and tribunals in which he represents the interests of MVVP’s clients.

Rutger obtained his law degree International and European Law in 2012 at the University of Brussels (VUB). Furthermore he also earned an advanced Master’s degree in Social Law at the University of Brussels (VUB). Prior to joining MVVP, Rutger also completed a six month traineeship at the Labour Court of Hasselt.
